Mood Board

For this project, I used the elements of horror to create a mood board. I surrounded my theme with pictures using dark, mainly back lighting, and pictures that contain colors like black, dark blue, and a dark eerie green. These elements drastically contribute to the eeriness of the pictures, allowing one to identify the genre of film, all by looking at the pictures. This particular Genre of movies is of interest to me because it is one of the few that you can see how lighting, costume, props, and even the camera angles come into play. With Horror, you can see and analyze the full effect and contributions of mis-en-scene.

MOVIE RATING

The movie that I chose to watch last week, accurately and articulately displayed how the use of sound, lighting, shot types, angles, and even colors.  The story is very interesting and easily holds the audience attention from beginning to end. The camera work of the movie intricately captured each emotion, allowing the audience to feel and experience the movie, along with the characters. For example, in one scene of the movie, where T'challa was face to face with his father is the after life; the use of close up shot allows the audience to feel the emotion of T'Chaka and T'Challa in this scene by not only using close up shot, but using shallow focus as well. This scene by far, holds and displays the most emotion in my opinion. This movie is enhanced by a high quality dialogue, and the back ground music is well suited for the scenes i...

Sound Art Project

For this assignment, we learned the elements of creating artificial sound, that is often created by folly artist and use to enhance sounds in different films. My group and I were tasked with replicating the techniques used for creating artificial sound. We first planned what sound we were going to recreate, and then proceeded to replicate it.  The sound we recreated was of someone entering a restaurant. The typical sound of a restaurant may include chairs moving, a bell ringing, and the sound of a menu moving. We decided to recreate exactly those sounds to the best of our abilities.  Door Bell- For this sound, we used a chain, attached to keys and used it to make the sound.  For the menu, we used a book, and mimicked the sound of flipping through the pages of menu. We further used the book, to make the sound of a chair moving by sliding it across a table.  In the end, we combined all the sounds on a soundtrack and completed our project. A few things that my pee...
