Movie Analysis

The movie I chose do an analysis on is Blank Panther.  The cinematography of this movie is wonderful and shows so much emotion without the characters having to say a single word. The directors intriguingly put the audience in Blank Panthers shoes, and allowed me to feel like I was going through the journey with him.

A few shots caught my eye but the most detailed and beautiful one in my opinion was the shot when T'challa travels to see his father in the after life.

Establishing shot:

This shot not only shows where T'challa has traveled, but shows the peace and beauty of the after life, where his father resides. Its gives T'challa a sense of reassurance, knowing that his father is at peace.

Another shot, that hold so much emotion without having  a single word need to be said, is the scene where T'challa confronts his father for his wrong doings.

Close up shot:

This shot, allows the audience to feel the emotion of T'Chaka and T'Challa in this scene by not only using close up shot, but using shallow focus as well. It directly demands the audience to feel, see and hear the pain in T'challa's voice when he confronts his father about his betrayal. This scene by far, holds and displays the most emotion in my opinion.

Wide Shot:

This complex scene that I have taken from the clip I chose is a perfect demonstration on how the camera shot, angle, and Depth of field creates a certain emotion.  This shot establishes a sense of inferiority and power. Whilst using deep focus,  the shot demands the attention of the audience, to acknowledge the power and the status of the people in that room.

The zooming out in this scene creates a sense of accomplishment, especially with the context of this scene. It was a victory shot, establishing that killmonger  had won and he was the victor. He had control over everyone and wanted evoke fear in his peers an the people bellow him, to let them know that he was king of Wakanda. This shot accurately displays power, and aggression.

Blog Post Critiques

Today I critiqued Dellroy's and Nicole's Blog post on camera angles/shots. Dellroy and his partner accurately executed the camera angles and shots to the best of their abilities. Some of the angles give a comedic effect, and really give the audience a good laugh. Each shot accurately displays its title, despite there being no description for the shots, it was over all still a great assignment. Personally, I would give them A plus. The post was great and could be used for future reference as well, if they ever want to look back on it and review what they learned prior. One thing I would change about the blog post is the layout of it. I believe they have potential, and with a little more work they can achieve more with their camera skills. One particular Camera shot I believe they accurately demonstrated is over the shoulder. The shot displays at an angle over Nicole's shoulder, while precisely catching a view of what the foreground and background looks like. This shot by f...

First Day Filiming

Our fist day filming was a bit challenging to say the least. It actually took us a quite a while to film and it made us a little behind with our work. Even though we had a few obstacles, we pushed through and got 41 seconds done out of  the 1:51 that is required. These two clips consist of our production "Company"/name, and our Movie title. A lot of people have questioned us on the title of the movie, and it really has do with Monday being the day of the week that no one likes and Camila is considered the character that no one likes nor care for.  Our hallway scene probably was the scene that took us the longest to film but we thought this scene was imperative when capturing the emotion we wanted to evoke. We put this scene in to show the uniformity of the students in comparison to our character Camila who is seen as the outcast. This scene was kind of a filler; it was used to introduce Camila but also put in some of the credits.
